Tony Merriman has joined our
Catastrophic Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Team as an Associate. Tony’s appointment is further demonstration of Rix & Kay Solicitors ambition to strengthen our specialist team’s. Tony’s appointment swiftly follows the recent recruitment of
Phil Ryder as a Partner in our
Country & Prestige Property Team.
Tony has been a member of the Solicitors Regulation Authority Personal Injury Panel since 1998, is a Member of Headway – the brain injury association, Personal Injury Solicitors List and is a founder member and on the steering committee of Kent Acquired Brain Injury Forum. He is also an honourary Legal adviser at Tunbridge Wells Citizens Advice Bureau. He has been handling personal injury claims for over 30 years, so has a wealth of experience. Tony has a reputation for his thorough and compassionate approach. He acts for adults and children and has significant experience working with teenagers and adolescents, both in the context of his professional work and as a youth leader in his private life. He deals with fatal claims, inquests, severe brain and spinal injuries, amputee's and multiple injuries as well as severe post traumatic stress disorder and in addition has successfully pursued serious workplace stress and accident injury claims for clients, winning cases despite strong opposition. He also deals with product liability, public liability and Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority claims.
Tony’s cases are often worth many millions of pounds. He is committed to his clients and their families and tries to ensure that the burden of a sometimes difficult claims process is eased by keeping the client, and wherever possible the family, informed at all times of what to expect. Tony pursues the maximum he can for his clients and works with them so that he is aware of their needs and wishes when moving towards the conclusion of the claim.
Born in Kingston upon Thames, Tony headed the Claimant Team at his previous firm of Solicitors before joining Rix & Kay Solicitors LLP. He is the father of four adult children and kinship carer to a child of a past client. He enjoys camping, gardening and cooking when time allows.
