His polar feats are noteworthy. He is the only person, to have trekked solo, and without outside support, from Canada to the North Geographic Pole - a feat described as the "greatest endurance feat left on Earth" that would have required "a constitution of iron" by Sir Ranulph Fiennes (himself the world's greatest explorer according to the Guinness Book of Records).
