Rix & Kay currently has 3 trainees within the firm. Each of the trainees is currently undertaking the 4 seat process and are at different stages of their training. Below is a little bit of information about each:
Victoria Toy
Courses taken to date: Legal Practice Course, LLB (Hons) Degree in Law, 3 A Levels and 1 AS Level
Departments worked in so far in training: Catastrophic Injury, Family Law and Corporate
Why did you chose Rix & Kay?: ‘I started at Rix & Kay on a work experience programme and never left! During my work experience I was offered a job as a secretary in Commercial Property and later applied for a training contract. I wanted to progress to a fee earner role within Rix & Kay due to the diverse nature of the work on offer, the approachable nature of all the staff and the quality ethos that the firm stands by.’
Future aims: ‘At the moment I am looking forward to becoming a full fee earner, dealing with my own clients and the challenges they will offer me.'
Hobbies and interests outside of work: Victoria has the travel bug and enjoys seeing the world and wants to travel around France on the back of a motorbike. Victoria is currently studying French at a local college and enjoys live music and attempting to snowboard.

Donata Buonassisi
Courses taken to date: Legal Practice Course, BA (Hons) Degree in Italian & Business Studies, and 3 A levels
Departments worked in so far in training: Family Law
Why did you chose Rix & Kay?: ‘I chose Rix & Kay as it was highly recommended as a modern, good sized firm with lots of opportunity for progression. Everybody is really friendly and helpful and I definitely think that the people you work with make you want to come to work as much as the work you do.’
Future aims: ‘At the moment I just want to complete my training contract with flying colours and hopefully Rix & Kay will have a place for me when I am done and I look forward to working here for many years to come!’
Hobbies and interests outside of work: Donata is a creative person outside of work with a passion for reading, writing and dancing. In addition to this she also plays the piano and is studying martial arts making her a fearsome opponent in any future legal battles!

Why you chose Rix & Kay: ‘When researching Rix & Kay before applying to work here I spoke to many people from other local firms and was very impressed by the positive feedback I was given. For a firm of its size I feel it offers a wide range of specialist services in both corporate and private client work which provides excellent scope for any trainee. Rix & Kay actively encourage you to achieve the best you can, and whilst challenging you are very supportive, and have even gone as far as sponsoring me through my LPC. On top of this there is also an excellent balance of professionalism and fun which is shared throughout the firm.’
Future Aims: 'I am really looking forward to qualifying and putting into practice the experience I will have gained throughout my training contract. I hope to be able to establish myself quickly and successfully as a solicitor and continue to expand upon my skills and knowledge throughout my career.'
Hobbies and interests outside of work: Outside of work Katie enjoys spending time in colder climates engaging in all forms of winter sports. She loves to travel and spends as much of her spare time as possible in Canada. As well as keeping fit, Katie also enjoys attending theatre and other performance arts, and cooking for her friends in her new home whenever possible!
