Rix & Kay Solicitors over the last 4 years to have been building and developing a marketing initiative involving the Sussex County Sports Partnership (SCSP) to assist in the business development of grass roots and community sports clubs throughout Sussex.
This initiative was aimed at identifying those areas that clubs and teams required support over but either could not afford the advice or were not aware they needed it.
This led to the creation of the annual Business Sports Conference. Which is now in its 4th year. Going from strength to strength. This year’s conference based on previous years popularity has been over subscribed and attracted new sponsors that have enabled the conference to raise its profile and offerings to the clubs.
The conference has had over the last 4 years top level sports stars past and present talk to the attendees on their experiences and the knowledge they have gained from their years in professional sport. These speakers have included:
Martin Perry – Chief Executive Brighton & Hove Albion FC,
Roger Uttley – England & Lions Rugby,
Lucy McCrickard – Organiser London Marathon,
Karen Pickering – Olympic Swimmer,
Helen Reeves – Olympic Canoeist,
Gary Stevens – England Footballer,
Gary Brickley – Olympic Trainer,
Dr Mark James – Manchester Metropolitan University,
Sussex County Cricket,
Ann Daniels – Polar Explorer.
These are supported by a number of workshop speakers who address the problems they face directly.
We have also worked with the SCSP over the last few years to help them develop and grow but also by supplying the legal services they have needed to reach their goals. This has led to the SCSP transferring its business operations from its former host, the University of Brighton to the independent legal entity that is the Sussex County Sports Partnership Trust on 31st December 2007.
